Our Story

Beginnings

Dimension began as a wild dream — born from trance parties in Europe —where our founder, Dave, discovered the magic of the Opus sound system. At a festival in Spain, with a massive Opus system, Dave had an epiphany: he had to bring this experience back to New Zealand and dedicate his life to creating trance parties. He truly believed our country was the perfect place for an unparalleled psychedelic experience, and together we would create the best trance party in the world.

Soundsystem Explosion

Returning to the UK and fuelled by this vision, Dave wasted no time. Before even recovering from the festival, he secured a loan, purchased an Opus sound system, and end committed to the cause. He then moved back to New Zealand to bring this vision to life. At the first party by the serene waters of Lake Tomorata in 2005, the sound system spectacularly blew up! Instead of being a setback, it became the spark for something bigger.

Psychedelic Experience

Over the past 20 years, through more than 200 events and three Opus upgrades, we’ve transformed that initial spark into Dimension Festival. Through relentless innovation in immersive technology, visuals, and sound, we’ve crafted a psychedelic experience that stands alone. Dimension Festival is not just an event; it’s the culmination of a 20-year journey that began with a clear vision to create an experience that truly truly blows our minds.
